The top 3 on Google Maps in Cyprus have 66 Google reviews at the median. That is the result of 432 map searches in 12 industries in Paphos, Limassol, Nicosia and Larnaca in October 2026. The number depends on the industry: accountants in the top 3 have 15 reviews, dentists 118 and car rental companies 265.
We searched Google Maps from nine points in each city and stored the first 20 results of every search: 3,058 businesses in total (how we counted).
How many Google reviews do the top 3 have in Cyprus?
66 at the median. One top 3 place in four has fewer than 21 reviews, and one in four has more than 170.
The 1,296 top 3 places in our searches:
- 184 have fewer than 10 reviews. That is one in seven.
- 991 have 20 or more.
- 524 have 100 or more.
Further down the numbers fall. Places 4 to 10 have a median of 53 reviews, places 11 to 20 have 32.
How many reviews do the top 3 have in your industry?
Between 15 and 265, depending on what you do. Car rental, restaurants and dentists are the hardest fields, accountants and physiotherapists the easiest.

Read a row from left to right. For dentists the numbers fall from 118 to 71 to 32: the more reviews, the higher the place. For restaurants they rise from 195 to 412. There the top 3 are not the restaurants with the most reviews.
Which city needs the most reviews?
Paphos. The top 3 there have a median of 97 reviews, more than in the three bigger cities.
- Paphos: 97 reviews
- Larnaca: 67
- Limassol: 62
- Nicosia: 38
Our data does not say why. Paphos and Larnaca live from visitors, and visitors write reviews, but that is our guess. The Nicosia number is pulled down by businesses north of the buffer zone, which show up in the same searches with few reviews. Without them the Nicosia median is 43.
Do more reviews mean a higher place on Google Maps?
Often, and less than distance. In 77 % of our searches the businesses with more reviews stand higher. In 86 % the businesses closer to the search point stand higher.
How much reviews tell you depends on the industry:
- Tattoo studios, estate agents, dentists, lawyers and accountants: in about nine searches in ten, more reviews go with a higher place.
- Gyms: in two searches in three.
- Beauty salons: in half of them. There, reviews tell you nothing about the place.
- Restaurants: in 22 %. The top 3 restaurants sit a median of 0.6 kilometres from the search point.
So for a restaurant or a salon, Google shows mainly what is near. For a dentist or a lawyer, reviews separate the top from the rest. This is what the places show on one day. It does not prove what causes what. ChatGPT follows a similar pattern: see which businesses ChatGPT recommends in Cyprus.
Is 4.5 a good Google rating?
In Cyprus it is below what the top 3 show. Their median rating is 4.9 stars, and 955 of the 1,262 rated top 3 places have 4.8 or more.
Only 107 of them, 8 %, have less than 4.5 stars. A rating of 4.5 does not keep you out of the top 3, but most of the businesses beside you will show a higher number.
How many Google reviews do you need?
More than the businesses on places 4 to 10 for your search, in your part of town. In most industries in the table that is between 30 and 130 reviews.
- Open Google Maps where your customers are and search the way they do: dentist, barber, car rental.
- Write down the reviews of the first ten.
- Your first goal is the middle of places 4 to 10. Your second goal is the lowest number in the top 3.
One search is enough to start. Our table gives you the size of the task, your own search gives you the names.
How do you get more Google reviews?
Ask every customer, at the moment the work is done, and make it one tap. Google allows you to remind customers and to share a link or a QR code. It forbids discounts and gifts in return.

How did we count?
We ran 432 searches on Google Maps on 12 October 2026 and stored the first 20 results of each, with place, number of reviews and rating.
- Nine search points in each of Paphos, Limassol, Nicosia and Larnaca, two to four kilometres apart.
- Twelve search terms at each point, the ones in the table, in English and without the name of a town.
- 3,058 different businesses came out of it. 792 of them stand in a top 3 somewhere.
Median means that half of the places have more and half have fewer. What the numbers cannot show:
- It is one day. Map results change with the day, the device and the person searching.
- We searched in English. A search in Greek can show other businesses.
- In Nicosia, 32 of the 324 top 3 places belong to businesses north of the buffer zone.
- Twelve search terms are not every industry. A plumber or a hotel is not in the table.
